Deskripsi Pekerjaan: UK Defence & Security Exports (DSE) is the part of DIT that helps the UK’s defence and security industries to export their products. Working closely with industry, other UK government departments especially the Ministry of Defence, and the Indonesian government, you will be responsible for growing the UK’s trade and investment relationship with Indonesia in the defence and security (including cyber security) sectors, by helping UK companies win new business here.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Understand the UK Government’s Regional Trade Plan for Asia Pacific and UK Industrial Strategy to develop local sector strategies that will help deliver UK Government’s objectives.
- Proactively develop a broad range of contacts within the Indonesian military, police, government, security agencies and the defence and security industries to develop in-depth knowledge of defence and security projects in the pipeline and future Indonesian requirements.
- Proactively build relationships with embassy colleagues to identify synergies between trade promotion and wider UK Government objectives, including UK Ministry of Defence, trade policy, investment, UK Export Finance and Overseas Development Assistance programmes (e.g., Prosperity Fund).
- Develop DIT’s pipeline of defence and security projects in Indonesia by developing and recording market intelligence through research, company visits, relationship management of Indonesian buyers and meetings with relevant officials and stakeholders.
- Relationship manage and provide in market support for UK defence and security companies, which have both the capability and appetite to secure contracts in DIT’s pipeline of defence and security projects.
- Develop sector knowledge, both of UK capability (supply) and Indonesian requirements (demand).
- Work with DIT DSE HQ, UK Ministry of Defence and embassy colleagues to plan and deliver activities, including inward and outward missions, seminars, exhibition groups and workshops, including high-level Ministerial and senior official visits.
- Provide specialist export advice and practical assistance, working closely with industry and UK government departments.
- Identify, priortise and capture defence and security market access issues and then work with trade policy colleagues to address them.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Sector knowledge relevant to the role, specifically defence and/or security.
- Strong events and project management skills and exceptional teamwork abilities.
- A proven track record of successful relationship management with internal and external stakeholders, including those at senior level.
- Evidence of self-motivation, professionalism and the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Experience of working in or with the private sector.
- Good communicator at all levels, spoken and written.
- Experience in completing timely and accurate written information in English.
- Evidence of adaptability and ability to prioritise against competing, challenging tasking.
- IT proficiency – Using MS Office, Outlook and ability to learn British Embassy systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Indonesia, Southeast Asia and UK.
- Ability and willingness to work additional hours in the evening (e.g. business networking, official visits), when necessary.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Language: English / Bahasa Indonesia
- Level of language required: Fluent (written and spoken)
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
- Corporate Business Development, Sales or Marketing experience
- Experience of working in a team in international companies.
- Familiarity with the UK.
- Market research and analysis experience.
